Summer 1999? I remember using SoundJam in college around that time, and iTunes is based on that. So, 1999-2001 if I’m allowed a date range.
On a side note, I received a first-generation iPod Nano as a gift when it first came out, and I still run with it, it works great, and it’s still compatible with my hardware and software.

I would guess 1996 or so — seems like I remember my sister-in-law showing me pictures of her grandbabies on hers and the youngest was born in 1996.
